My Story

My bookkeeping journey began during the pandemic. Like many others, I found myself working from home, surrounded by stories of businesses closing their doors. It was a challenging time, but it also gave me an opportunity to reflect on my skills and passions. With years of management experience under my belt and a mentor by my side, I decided to use my background as a foundation to learn bookkeeping—a skill I believed would be valuable for the long term.

I started by searching online for bookkeeping courses. I enrolled in a basic bookkeeping course but quickly realized that I wanted more in-depth knowledge. I took additional courses, including “Assets in Accounting,” “Liabilities and Equity in Accounting,” and “Financial Statement Analysis.” These courses gave me a solid understanding of core accounting principles, and I earned certifications in all four subjects.

Building on this foundation, I enrolled in a comprehensive bookkeeping training program and earned another certification. However, I knew that mastering software was just as important as understanding bookkeeping concepts. I remembered using QuickBooks at a previous job, so I signed up for QuickBooks Online (QBO) training. After studying diligently, I earned my QBO Level 1 Certification.

Feeling prepared, I took the leap and established Mera Bookkeeping LLC. My goal was to provide reliable and efficient bookkeeping services to small businesses. To further enhance my expertise, I pursued the Advanced ProAdvisor Certification (Level 2) in QuickBooks Online. Achieving this advanced certification was a proud moment for me, as it represented my commitment to delivering high-quality services to my clients.

With my certifications in place and my website up and running, I began building my client base. Today, I work with a variety of clients from different industries. Each client brings unique challenges and opportunities, which keep my work exciting and fulfilling.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the journey that led me to bookkeeping. The pandemic was a turning point that pushed me to learn, grow, and create something meaningful. With my years of management experience, the guidance of a mentor, and a strong commitment to accuracy, I am confident that my bookkeeping skills will continue to serve my clients well.
